Sleigh Bells Ring! Are You Listenin’? In the lane, wine* is glistening!
*Please don’t drink and sleigh.
It’s the Holidays and we know many of you are busy enjoying time with family, shopping and decorating. We have some wonderful gift packages available on our website to make your shopping experience quick and easy! Our olive oils and vinegars make wonderful gifts for cooks, and are fun to use for all sorts of different things like marinating and glazing.
We also have some fabulous wine gift sets including a bottle of 2010 Special Select Cabernet accompanied by two Riedel Cabernet glasses. Some may scoff at the idea that the glass makes a difference but as all you wine geeks know: the glass matters. Here’s why: wine is the product of an extremely technical and delicate chemical process. It is during this process that chemical compounds form, contributing to the aromas and flavor we find in wine and each step the winemaker takes is a deliberate decision based on the type of grape, the weather of the growing season, blending plans, etc.
Using a glass specifically designed for a type of wine enhances all the subtleties and specificities of that varietal. It allows for full 360 degree enjoyment, without missing anything. It’s a fool proof tasting!
Everyone does a lot of cooking over the holidays and being that its winter, it’s red wines time to shine. Both as a pairing and in the cooking itself, red wine is tremendously versatile; like in this Roasted Pork Loin, or on the sweeter end, this recipe for Red Wine Poached Pears.
Don’t forget to stop by and see our Gingerbread House made by Christina Danner of Supreme Sweets. Be sure to vote for us!! We’ll also have fun holiday food pairings every Saturday this month, during normal tasting room hours. We hope to see you here, perhaps taking a break from your busy holiday schedule. You may even find some stocking stuffers or gift items in our Gourmet Shop!
