Have you ever thought about pairing wine specifically with music? Wine evokes a sense of sophistication but that doesn’t mean it always needs to be enjoyed with some boring ol’ elevator classical.
In choosing the music pairing with a wine, there are two touch-points to consider: the wine’s origin and the food it’s paired with. For example: a Spanish meal, paired with a rustic California red would be fantastic with some classical guitar playing.
Transport yourself to a different time and place with some classic twenties jazz, paired with a sparkling wine or perhaps the sophisticated styling’s of a Burgundian white. Yes, the twenties were when cocktails began to take hold, but this is OUR time traveling trip so we can do whatever we want!
Spring forward a couple decades and classic rock is playing on the radios and record players. Maybe you’re headed to a San Francisco venue to check out some early Doobie Brothers sounds. A high caliber estate grown B.R. Cohn Cabernet is the only possible pairing for that scenario! Pair with bold flavors like a big, complex spice rub on some delicious steak or ribs.
Go traditional with the original punk movement: Opera. Completely ahead of its time, it was complete noise to those who didn’t understand it. As Richard Gere says in Pretty Women, “they may learn to appreciate it, but it will never become part of their soul.” Whether you’re learning to appreciate it or it’s already firmly entrenched in your soul, there’s no doubt that opera and wine are two peas in a pod. Pair with a classic Italian pasta dish, and a beautiful bottle of Primitivo.
You can hear all these genres and more at B.R. Cohn! For our popular Sunday afternoon music series, we are pleased to be inviting back many musicians who have become fan favorites, as well as many new artists we are excited to showcase. Music is in our roots here and we love continuing the legacy!
